The THDB-SUM board was designed to convert Altera's high speed mezzanine connector (HSMC) to the Altera Santa Cruz interface and thus allowing the use of Santa Cruz interface boards on boards equiped with an HSMC connector. The THDB-SUM board performs the necessary logic level translation between the two interfaces.

The THDB-SUM also provides a USB, Mictor and SD Card interface allowing users to add these interfaces quickly and easily to any host board fitted with an HSMC connector. Because of limited I/O resource on the HSMC interface the Santa Cruz interface and USB port have to share I/O pins. Users can choose which interface to be enabled by jumper selection.
